Let us tell you more...

Phi Sigma Kappa at Northern Illinois University (NIU) offers a range of opportunities and support to its members. Here are the key benefits...

1. Brotherhood and Support: Phi Sigma Kappa prioritizes brotherhood and mental health support. We conduct mandatory brotherhood circles three times per semester to address mental stability and health. Members are encouraged to seek counseling services and openly discuss their struggles without shame. Our chapter advisor (who lives in DeKalb) also provides valuable support for mental health and operational issues.  Questions, please call/text 815.977.7537 or email Fraternity@phisig.info

2. Alumni/Professional Development/Leadership: Membership in Phi Sigma Kappa enhances your resume and develops leadership skills. Many members hold leadership positions in both the fraternity and other NIU organizations. Alumni connections offer assistance with resume writing, interviews, and job placement in various fields. Our strong Alumni actively engage with the undergraduate chapter. Our Alumni contribute significant funds for house improvements and provide scholarships. They also serve as mentors, references, and connectors for members seeking career opportunities.

3. Leadership Experience: Members are involved in over 100+ student and civic organizations, gaining diverse experiences and perspectives.

4. Philanthropy: The fraternity actively contributes to our community through service projects such as Greek row clean-up, volunteering with local organizations, and supporting charities. We maintain a strong relationship with both the DeKalb community and NIU leadership.

5. Athletics: Phi Sigma Kappa is highly active in NIU's intramural sports program, participating in various sports and tournaments. We emphasize participation and fun, welcoming members of all athletic abilities.  By the way, we also have a VERY strong relationship with NIU Athletics.

6. Social: The fraternity organizes numerous social events and activities, including dances, tailgating, barbecues, trips, and mixers with other NIU groups. Membership offers opportunities to expand social connections within the fraternity, sororities, and the wider NIU community.

7. Fraternity Home: Phi Sigma Kappa's fraternity house at 1300 Blackhawk Road is well-maintained and equipped with modern amenities. The house features multiple internet/WIFI connections, a computer lab, a theater room, a study room, a full commercial kitchen, a large basement, and a dining room. The undergraduate chapter has a say in house improvements, thanks to the support of the Alumni Association.   It is cheaper to live in our house than in the NIU residence halls.

It is important to note that Phi Sigma Kappa does not engage in hazing and offers reasonable costs for membership compared to other fraternities at NIU.

If you are interested in Phi Sigma Kappa, you can visit our house during the fall and spring semesters or register online for recruitment and private events.
