Phi Sigma Kappa has chosen Special Olympics International as our national philanthropy. Special Olympics is an international program that provides year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Their goal is to empower these individuals to become productive citizens who are accepted and respected in their communities. Participation in Special Olympics offers numerous benefits, including improved physical fitness, enhanced motor skills, increased self-confidence, positive self-image, friendships, and greater family support. Founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics operates in 95% of US counties, hosting over 15,000 events at various levels. It enjoys widespread recognition and media coverage, making it the most credible charity among 96 non-profit organizations in a recent poll. By aligning with Special Olympics, Phi Sigma Kappa opens doors to lifelong opportunities for both members and alumni. The possibilities for programming ideas are endless.
