Dear family and friends,            

The gentlemen of Phi Sigma Kappa would like to cordially invite you to our Annual Parents/Family Day Celebration and Auction. We want to express our gratitude for your continued involvement in your family member’s fraternal experience.  Without your support, we as a fraternity, would not continue to grow.  We remain excited about the year ahead and are hard at work with classes and chapter operations.

Our Annual Parents/Family Day Celebration and Auction is scheduled for the date above and will begin with a reception at 11:15 a.m. at 1300 Blackhawk Road, IL.  The reception will be an opportunity to meet current members, new members, and their families.  At approximately noon we will be serving lunch, which will also be catered (in part) by Anyway’s Pub Restaurant & Banquets (5 East Roosevelt Road Oakbrook Terrace, IL - anywayspub.com) This restaurant is owned and operated by George Lamberis, a Phi Sig alumnus (class of 1988).  The Fraternity will provide beverages and appetizers.  In addition, we request that each family please bring a dish to pass that will supplement the entrees provided. 

We ask that the families of…
Freshmen and sophomores are to bring appetizers (chips, dip, deviled eggs, etc.);
Juniors to bring a dish to pass (potato salad, pasta salad, etc.);
Seniors should bring desserts (cookies, cakes, pies, etc.).

We strongly encourage all families to bring an additional dish that is a family specialty which could also represent our existing ethnically diverse membership. For example, Pasta PrimaVera, Curry Chicken, Puerto Rican Rice, Empanadas, Matzah Balls, Ceviche, Kabobs, Schnitzel, Perogies, Plantains, Shepherd’s Pie, etc. Any additional contribution to the meal would be sincerely appreciated.  The more food the better, WE LIKE TO EAT!

Immediately following lunch we will proceed with the day’s entertainment.  For those of you who don’t know, this is our fraternity’s auction.  The purpose of this auction is to raise money for the Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation, the NIU Foundation, and the City of DeKalb.  We ask that each family bring at least one item to auction off.  The items do not have to be of significant value but keep in mind that the proceeds from this event go to the above organizations. Over the past 11 years, this auction has raised over $50,000 for the above organizations. Therefore, what you bring to donate and more importantly what you help raise directly impacts our ability to give back. Please note: 100% of the net profit is donated.  Examples of items donated in the past are shirts, jackets, items with the Phi Sigma Kappa letters/name on them, bar stools/tables/chairs, fine wine and spirits, electronics, tickets to sporting events, gift certificates, a weekend getaway package, care packages, or anything you can imagine your son or another parent would want to bid on.  The auction is always very entertaining, and we encourage you to stay for the entire event. 

The Parents/Family Day celebration and auction are scheduled to end at approximately 4:00 p.m.  We ask that everyone try to respond to this invitation no later than  4 days before the event as we need to have a head count for food.  Please include in your response the number of people who are planning to attend (father, mother, brother, sister, or other friends and family members).
